The Federal Government has expressed dissatisfaction with the current multiple accreditation bodies to universities, saying the practice where over 25 professional bodies seek to accredit courses in universities at the expense of the institutions is unacceptable.
The Executive Secretary, NUC, Professor Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu, FCVSN, on Tuesday, 29th July, 2025, inaugurated a 13- man committee, with the mandate to review the guidelines governing the establishment and operations of private universities in Nigeria.
The Tertiary Education Trust Fund TETFund has also assembled a team of experts to commence the selection of 10 beneficiary universities for the establishment of mechanised commercial farms and livestock operations in its 2025 intervention.
