The Federal Executive Council has, last week, approved the establishment of 20 new private universities in Nigeria, bringing their total to 99 and the total number of universities in Nigeria to 193.
The Federal Executive Council has approved four new private universities Wednesday, 9th January 2019. The first meeting of the Council was presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari. Briefing State House correspondents, the Minister of Education, Mal. Adamu Adamu, gave the names of the universities as: Greenfield University, Kaduna; Dominion University, Ibadan, Oyo State; Trinity University, Ogun State; and Westland University in Iwo, Osun, State.
The Federal Executive Council has approved construction of the $50 million (N18bn) Transportation University to be located in Daura, Katsina State which was billed to commence by next year, the Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, has said.
