The NUC, last Thursday, 11th September, 2025, held a roundtable discussion with relevant stakeholders including regulatory and professional bodies, Directors of Academic Planning (DAPs) of Nigerian Universities, in a bid to ensure the harmonisation of the Accreditation process in the NUS.
The Federal Government has expressed dissatisfaction with the current multiple accreditation bodies to universities, saying the practice where over 25 professional bodies seek to accredit courses in universities at the expense of the institutions is unacceptable.
The Executive Secretary, NUC, Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, has expressed concerns over quality of programmes run by affiliate institutions, declaring that for effective delivery of quality university education, there must be synergy between parent universities and their affiliate institutions.
