REMEDIES

1) The Philosophy of the programme is not well captured and the stated objectives of the programme are not similar to those enumerated in the BMAS.

2) BED 114 (Word Processing), BED 215 (Office Information and Technology and ACC 411 (Taxation) which are Core Courses are omitted from the Curriculum.

3) Tests and Examinations conducted did not cover the curriculum as there are no questions on Office Technology Management (OTME) which is vital aspects of Business Education.

4) Marking schemes are not well developed across courses. There are no adequate distribution of marks and grading of examination is not consistent.

5) 53.8% of the teaching staff are not core to the subject area

6) The Model Office for Office Technology Management Education (OTME) is inadequate in space and not well equipped with functional Computer, Printers, Scanner and standard furnitures.

7) Academic Staff offices are slightly inadequate in spaces.

8) Physical books are inadequate in number and coverage while journals in the library are not current.

9) There is no tracer system in place.

 

1) The University should review the philosophy of the Programme and ensure that objectives of the programme are similar to those stated in the BMAS.

2) The University should ensure that the Curriculum is reviewed to include all the Core and Compulsory courses.

3) The University should ensure that tests and examinations adequately cover the scope of the curriculum.

4) The University should ensure that marking schemes are well developed and grading of examination should be consistent.

5) The University should ensure that at least 75% of the teaching staff are core to the subject area.

6) The University should provide a standard, well-equipped Model Office for Office Technology and Management Education practicals.

7) The University should provide standard offices for the academic staff in the programme.

8) The University should procure current books and journals for the library.

9)The University should ensure that tracer system is in place.

 

The total score for the programme is 76.29%. It scored 22 (78.57%)  in Academic Matters, 29 (82.86%) in Staffing, 20 (74.07%) in Physical Facilities, 14.5 (80.56%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 1 (33.33%) in Research and Collaborations and 0 (0.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
