DEFICIENCIES

REMEDIES

1. External Examiner for the programme has been appointed for more than two years.
2. Practicum conducted are not of good quality. Student logbooks were not marked in some cases and cases of counselling sessions which lasted for only three (3) minutes were observed.
3. 33.33% of the academic staff have not benefited from the Staff Development Programme. Similarly, none of the non-academic staff have benefitted from the University’s staff development programme.
4. Two-way mirror, recording equipment are not available in the counselling centre.
5. The group counselling room in the counselling centre is being used as a staff room.
6. Physical library books are inadequate in number.

 

1. The University should ensure that an external examiner should not be appointed for a period of more than 2 years.
2. Students’ practicum should be of good quality and adequately supervised.
3. The University should ensure that all staff benefit from the Staff Development Programme.
4. Two-way mirror and recording equipment should be provided in the counselling centre.
5. Counselling rooms should not be used as staff offices as counselling centres should be private.
6. More books should be procured for the programme

 

The total score for the programme is 80.80%. It scored 30 (81.08%)  in Academic Matters, 28 (80.00%) in Staffing, 22 (81.48%) in Physical Facilities, 16 (88.89%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 1 (33.33%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
