REMEDIES

1. Marking schemes exist but not well developed.

2. The degree project covered a wide area of research in the programme but not well supervised.

3. 32.15% of the academic staff and 100% of the non teaching staff have not benefited from staff development.

4. Equipment such as AAS, GC, HPLC, GC-MS and FTIR are not functional and also equipment such as XRD, DSC and NMR are not available.

 

1. The University should ensure that the marking schemes are well developed.

2. The University should ensure that student degree project is well supervised.

3. Every staff of the programme should benefit from staff development.

4. . Non-functional Equipment should be fixed and new ones
such as XRD, DSC, and NMR should be obtained.

 

The total score for the programme is 82.40%. It scored 30 (81.08%)  in Academic Matters, 31 (88.57%) in Staffing, 19 (70.37%) in Physical Facilities, 17 (94.44%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
