REMEDIES

1. The Philosophy and Objectives are not programme specific and thus not clearly stated for the Physical and Health education.
2. The curriculum did not cover substantially areas and practicals of health education.
3. There is block allocation of marks in all question papers.

4. 18.18% of academic staff do not have Ph. D. degree.
5. 28.6% of the academic staff have not benefitted from Staff Development Programme.
6. All the non- teaching staff have not benefitted from Staff Development Programme.
7. The health education does not have a laboratory.

8. There is no adequate water supply in the department.

9. The physical library books are inadequate in number.
10. Funding is inadequate for the programme.

 

1. Philosophy and Objectives should be programme specific, concise and very well articulated in line with those in the BMAS.
2. The curriculum should cover areas and practicals of health education.
3. Block allocation of marks in examination question should be discouraged.
4. All academic staff should be encouraged to have Ph. D. degree.
5. The university should ensure that all staff benefit from Staff Development Programme.
6. The university should ensure that all non-teaching staff benefit from Staff Development Programme.
7. The university should ensure that health education laboratory is provided.
8. The university should ensure that there is adequate water supply to the department.
9. More current books should be procured for the programme.
10. The programme should be adequately funded.

 

The total score for the programme is 84.40%. It scored 32.50 (87.84%)  in Academic Matters, 32 (91.43%) in Staffing, 19 (70.37%) in Physical Facilities, 16 (88.89%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
