DEFICIENCIES

REMEDIES

1. Marking scheme exist but block marking seen the
scripts

2. Examination Malpractice and consequences are
not enshrined in the the Student’s Handbook.

3. Practical work conducted did not cover the
curriculum

4. The projects are innovative and creative but not
well supervised

5. Students are only exposed to only vocational skills
instead of entrepreneurial business ventures.

6. The Staff mix by rank is consistent with only two
categories of NUC guidelines.

7. The Department do not have a qualified Secretary
for the programme

8. 50% of the academic staff benefitted from staff
development.

9. 50% of the non-academic staff benefitted from
staff development

10. The programme does not have studio where
stimulation of real life business experience can
be replicated

11. The chairs in some of the classroom needs to be
replaced as they have expired.

12. The Professorial offices are is ill equipped.

13. Funding of the programme is not adequate

 

1. The University should avoid block marking of
scripts.

2. The University should ensure that Examination
malpractice and consequences is enshrined in the
Student Handbook.

3. The University needs to introduce programme
specific activities that would stimulate and expose
students to the intricacies in establishing and
managing entrepreneurial ventures

4. There is need for the University to show
evidence that the work are subject to plagerism test
which reinforces the originality of the projects

5. The University should engage the students on
entrepreneurial business development activities
such as market research, feasibility studies and
business plan development.

6. The University should employ more lower rank
staff for sustenance of growth and development of
the programme

7. The University should employ a qualified Secretary
for the programme

8. More academic staff should benefit from staff
development programmes

9. More non-academic staff should benefit from staff
development programmes

10. The University should provide studio for the
programme.

11. The University should purchase new chairs for
some of the classrooms

12. The University should equip the professorial
offices with A/C and refrigerator.

13. The programme should be adequately
funded

 

The total score for the programme is 78.80%. It scored 30.0 (81.08%)  in Academic Matters, 28.0 (80.00%) in Staffing, 19.0 (70.37%) in Physical Facilities, 15.5 (86.11%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 2 (66.67%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
