REMEDIES

1. Examination Malpractice and consequences are not
enshrined in the the Student’s Handbook

2. Marking scheme exist but fairly developed.

3. 50% of Student did not demonstrate good
knowledge of soft and hard skills.

4. The Staff mix by rank did not follow the NUC
guideline in only one category. That is Senior
Lecturer.

5. Students Course evaluation was mainly on
academic staff which they rated all of them high.
It is silent on evaluation of facilities.

6. The Department do not have a qualified
Secretary for the programme.

7. Laboratory space for the programme is small in
size and meets 60% on space standard as
prescribed by BMAS

8. Office accommodation is small in space, some
offices are shared and is ill equipped.

9. Environment is safe but bushy around the
laboratory

10. Internet connectivity to the e-library does not
cover areas of the Campus

11. Funding of the programme is not adequate

 

1. The University should ensure that Examination
malpractice and consequences is enshrined in the
Student Handbook.

2. Marking scheme should be well developed

3. The University should improve on students soft
skills such as problem solving skills that is
relevant to the programme.

4. The University should strive to attain the Staff mix
by rank of 20:35:45 as contained in the BMAS

5. The University should ensure that students’
evaluation of facilities form is included.

6. The University should employ a qualified
Secretary for the programme.

7. Laboratory space for the programme is small in
size and meets 60% on space standard as
prescribed by BMAS

8. The University should provide bigger office space,
equip it with A/C and fridge for Professorial cadre
and decongest the sitting arrangements.

9. The University should constantly clear the bushes
around the Laboratory building.

10. Internet connectivity should cover all areas of the
campus to enable ease to access e-resources

11. The programme should be adequately funded

 

The total score for the programme is 85.98%. It scored 34.25 (92.57%)  in Academic Matters, 30.0 (90.91%) in Staffing, 19.25 (71.30%) in Physical Facilities, 15.50 (86.11%) in Library. The programme scored 1.75 (58.33%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
