DEFICIENCIES

REMEDIES

1. There was not enough additional innovative courses provided by guideline.
2. The Curriculum is substantially covered.
3. The Test and Exam, are of good standard, but did not cover the curriculum.
4. Making scheme exist, but block marking were seen.
5. Degree project were innovative but not well supervised.
6. Students demonstrate low level of soft and hard skills.
7. staff mix by rank, is only consistent in one (1) category.
8. Less than 70% of the teaching staff are with Ph.D.
9. Less than 70% of Academic and Non teaching staff benefited from staff development for the last 3 years.
10. Laboratories equipment inspected is not of good quantity.
11. Sand bucket fire extinguisher are not enough.
12. Funding of the program is inadequate.

 

1. Not less than 4 innovative courses be provided as local contain, as stipulated in BMAS/CCMAS.
2. The Curriculum should be adequately covered.
3. The Test and exam should be inline with the NUC guideline.
4, The university should avoid block marking, as its against the NUC guideline.
5. The Uni. should ensure that students projects is well supervised.
6. The lecturers should improve on giving students appropriate skills required.
7. The uni. should ensure that Staff mix by rank should be in line with NUC guide of 20, 35, and 45.
8. The guideline provides that more than 70% of its teaching staff should have Ph.D
9. Academic and non Teaching staff should benefit more from staff development.
10. The lab equipment should meet NUC guideline, by quality, quantity and functionality.
11. the University should provide functional fire extinguisher and sand bucket in a strategic area.
12. The University should improve funding of the Department.

 

The total score for the programme is 83.33%. It scored 24 (75.00%)  in Academic Matters, 30 (86%) in Staffing, 24 (88.89%) in Physical Facilities, 18 (100.00%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 1 (33.33%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
