REMEDIES

1. Only 57% of the teaching staff has benefitted from staff development programmes in the last three years.

2. Merely 8% of the non-teaching staff have undergone staff development programmes.

3. The spaces in Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacognosy laboratories are inadequate relative to the number of students in the programme.

4. Some equipment in the Pharmacology, Pharmacognosy and Pharmaceutical chemistry laboratories are either non-existent or non-functional.

5. Office space in Clinical Pharmacy department does not meet the NUC BMAS space requirement.

6. There are no projectors and public address systems in the class rooms.

 

1. All teaching staff should be given the opportunity to participate in staff development programmes.

2 Every non-teaching staff should be availed of staff development programmes.

3. More spacious laboratories should be provided for the programme.

4. Additional kynographs, organ baths with aerators, metabolism cages, and tail flick equipment are required in the Pharmacology laboratory. The Pharmacognosy laboratory needs PH metre, fumes cupboard, freeze dryer and electrophoresis equipment; while the Pharmaceutical Chemistry laboratory should be provided with Rotary evaporator, Fume cupboard, GC and Flame photometre.

5. The Clinical Pharmacy department should be provided with more spacious office accommodation.

6 Smart boards, projectors and public address system should be provided in the class rooms.

 

The total score for the programme is 78.99%. It scored 30 (90.91%)  in Academic Matters, 29 (82.86%) in Staffing, 15 (55.56%) in Physical Facilities, 16 (88.89%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and (%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored less than 70% in any of the four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme
