1. The Curriculum contains less than four innovative courses.
2. Practicals conducted are not of good quality and do not cover the curriculum.
3. 50% of the Academic staff are not core to the Programme.
4. 50% of the Academic staff have Ph.D. qualification.
5. 41.7% of academic staff have not benefited from staff development.
6. 84.7% of non-academic staff have not benefited from staff development
7. Some essential Laboratory equipment are not available.
8. Funding for the programme is inadequate.
9. There is no evidence of research and collaboration in the programme. No multi-disciplinary approach to research.
10. There is no tracer’s system in place.

 

1. The University should ensure that the curriculum is enriched by the addition of at least four innovative courses without exceeding the max credit load.
2. The University should ensure that Practicals conducted cover the depth and scope of the curriculum.
3. The University must ensure the minimum standard for core staff as prescribed in the BMAS/CCMAS
4. The University should ensure that all Academic Staff obtain the Ph.D qualification
5. The University should ensure that all academic staff benefits for staff development programme
6. The University should ensure that all non-academic staff benefits from staff development programme
7. The University should procure machine laboratory for the programme
8. Adequate funding should be provided for the programme.
9. The University should ensure that there is research and collaboration in the programme and ensure multidisciplinary approach to research.
10. The University should ensure that tracer’s system is in place.

 

The total score for the programme is 69.42%. It scored 24 (72.73%)  in Academic Matters, 21 (60.00%) in Staffing, 24 (88.89%) in Physical Facilities, 13 (72.22%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 1 (33.33%) in Research and Collaborations and 0 (0.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored less than 70% in any of the four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme
