1. The Internal Quality Assurance Committee is ineffective at the departmental level.

2. The staff-to-student ratio is slightly above the NUC guideline.

3. 48% of the academic staff have not benefitted from the staff development programme.

4. 33% of the non-academic staff have not benefitted from the staff development programme.

5. The language laboratory is not functional and well-equipped.

6. Funding is inadequate for the programme.

 

1. The University should ensure the effectiveness of the Internal Quality Assurance Committee at the department.

2. The University should comply with the staff-to-student ratio as stipulated in the NUC guideline.

3. The University should ensure that all academic staff benefit from the staff development programme.

4. The University should ensure that all non-academic staff benefit from the staff development programme.

5. The University should make adequate provision for a functional and well-equipped laboratory.

6. Adequate funding should be provided for the programme.

 

The total score for the programme is 84.80%. It scored 34 (91.89%)  in Academic Matters, 29 (82.86%) in Staffing, 18 (66.67%) in Physical Facilities, 18 (100.00%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored less than 70% in any of the four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme
