REMEDIES

1. There is no evidence of evaluation of the programme by students.

2. The Laboratory does not have the following essential equipment such as the PCR ( Polymerate Chain Reaction) Machine, Electro-porensis equipment and Bio-analyser.

3. The Quality Assurance Committee is in place but do not hold meetings regularly .

4. The funding is inadequate considering the materials required for the Biotechnology programme.

 

1. The University should institutionalize a system that will enable students assess the adequacy of course content, learning materials, course delivery
and physical facilities.

2. All essential laboratory equipment should be provided for the programme.

3. The Quality Assurance Committee should ensure regular meetings.

4. The University should adequately fund the Biotechnology programme.

 

The total score for the programme is 86.96%. It scored 27 (93.10%)  in Academic Matters, 30 (86%) in Staffing, 21 (77.78%) in Physical Facilities, 18 (100.00%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 0 (0.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
