1) The Department has less than 3 innovative courses in the curriculum.

2) Practicals conducted did not adequately cover the curriculum.

3) The staff structure for academic staff of 18:42:40 is consistent with NUC guideline in only one category.
4) Only 60 -70% academic staff have benefited from staff development programme.
5) Funding is inadequate.

 

1) The University needs to develop additional innovative courses to meet up with the BMAS which stipulates at least four innovative courses for the programme.
2) The University should ensure that practicals conducted adequately cover the curriculum.
3) The University should ensure that the academic structure is consistent with the NUC guideline.
4) The University should ensure that all academic staff benefit from the staff development programme.
5) The University should ensure that funding is improved.

 

The total score for the programme is 85.60%. It scored 32 (86.49%)  in Academic Matters, 28 (80.00%) in Staffing, 25 (92.59%) in Physical Facilities, 16 (88.89%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
