REMEDIES

1. The objectives and philosophy of the programme did not conform with the NUC BMAS/CCMAS.
2. 43.47% of the academic staff did not benefit from staff development programme in the last 3years.
3. Some equipment in the Laboratory were not functional such as Autoclave, Bunsen burner and inoculation hood.
4. The classroom available for the programme were inadequate in space and mostly they are teaching laboratories.
5. There were few fire extinguishers and no sand buckets in around the Department.

 

1. The University should ensure the objective and philosophy of the programme comply with NUC BMAS/CCMAS.
2. The University should ensure all the staff of the programme benefit from the staff development programme.
3. The University should ensure the faulty equipment is repaired for effective teaching and learning.
4. The University should ensure they provide more classroom for the programme.
5. The University should procure more fire extinguishers and sand buckets for the programme.

 

The total score for the programme is 89.60%. It scored 36 (97.30%)  in Academic Matters, 31 (88.57%) in Staffing, 22 (81.48%) in Physical Facilities, 16 (88.89%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
