REMEDIES

1. The curriculum is substantially covered.

2. The curriculum contains three (3) innovative courses.

3. The samples, designs, logbook, manuals for practical works are not of good quality.

4. The course content, learning materials, course delivery, physical facilities are inadequate, no projector and the classroom should be conducive.

5. External Examiner does not exist.

6. Internal Quality Assurance exist but not effective.

7. Only 50% of the Academic Staff benefited from staff development programme.

8. Only 50% of non-teaching staff benefited from staff development programme.
9. The Laboratories and Clinics are inadequate and meet less than 50% of prescribed space requirements.

10. The laboratories were poorly equipped with less than 50% equipment.

11. Classroom equipment and furniture are not well maintained.

12. Office accommodation are inadequate in space ill-equipped.

13. Fire extinguishers are expired and there were few sand buckets.

14. Library books and journals are inadequate in number and coverage.

15. The students have not been exposed to SIWES.

16. Funding for the programme is inadequate.

 

1. The curriculum should be adequately covered.

2. The University should ensure that the curriculum is enriched by the addition of at least four (4) innovative courses without exceeding maximum credit.
3. The samples, designs, logbook, manuals for practical works should be of good quality with depth and scope covered.

4. The course content, learning materials, course delivery, physical facilities should be adequate. There should be projector and the classroom should be conducive.

5. The University should ensure that External Examiner exist as this will improve the standard of work done in the programme.

6. The University should ensure that Internal Quality Assurance is effective.

7. The University should ensure that all Academic Staff should benefit from staff development programme.

8. The University should ensure that all non-teaching staff benefit from staff development programme.

9. The University should ensure that the Laboratories and Clinics are adequate and meet the provisions of the BMAS on space standard by 70% or more.
10. The University should ensure that the laboratories are well equipped with 80% or more of the equipment.

11. The classroom equipment and furniture should be well maintained.

12. The University should ensure that the office accommodation is adequate in space and well equipped as stipulated in the NUC guideline.

13. The University should ensure safe and comply with all government laws relating to fire and environmental sanitation and adequate sand buckets should be provided for the programme.
14. More current books and journals should be procured for the programme.
15. The University should ensure that students experience Industrial training and course practical works.

16. The programme should be adequately funded.

 

The total score for the programme is 61.79%. It scored 21 (56.76%)  in Academic Matters, 28 (80.00%) in Staffing, 9 (33.33%) in Physical Facilities, 14 (77.78%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 0 (0.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored less than 70% in any of the four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme
