1. The number of practical’s are in adequate and did not cover the Curriculum
2. 71.4 percent of the academic staff are core to Biotechnology
3. 57.1 of the teaching staff have PhD
4. 43 percent of the academic staff have benefitted from staff development
5. Two academic staff in the rank of lecturer II do not have offices
6. Few text books and journals are available for the programe
7. No evidence for subscription to data bases
8. Funding is inadequate for the programme

 

1. The university should ensure that the practicals are adequate and cover the curriculum
2. The university should ensure that all the academic staff are core to Biolochnology
3. The University should ensure that all the staff of the programme has PhDs,
4. The University should ensure that all the academic staff benefitted from the staff development
5. The University should ensure that all academic staff have offices
6. The University should procure more books and journals for the programme
7. The University should ensure there is availability of data bases
8. The University should make funding available for the programme

 

The total score for the programme is 76.00%. It scored 26 (70%)  in Academic Matters, 24 (68%) in Staffing, 25 (92%) in Physical Facilities, 14 (77%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 2 (66.67%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored less than 70% in any of the four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme
