1. Practical work conducted is inadequate, not well supervised and does not adequately cover the curriculum.
2. Internal quality assurance exits but not effective in the department
3. 47.2% of the academic staff do not have the Ph.D degree
4. Department is run by unqualified and inexperienced academic staff
5. 67% of academic staff has not benefit from staff development programme
6. 50% of non-teaching staff has not benefitted from staff development programme

7. Staff offices are inadequate in space
8. Library books and journals are inadequate in numbers
9. Slow internet connectivity impedes access to e-books and journals by students and staff of the programme
10. funding is inadequate for the programme

 

1. The University should ensure that adequate practical is conducted, well supervised and cover the curriculum
2. The University should ensure, there is effective internal quality assurance for the programme
3. The University should ensure that academic staff are encouraged to obtain the Ph.D degree
4. University should ensure that qualified and experienced staff head the department
5. University should ensure that all academic staff benefit from staff development programme
6. University should ensure that all non-teaching benefit from staff development programme
7. standard offices should be provided for the programme
8. More books and journals should be procured for the programme
9. University should ensure tha internet connectivity is improved upon
10. The programme should be adequately funded

 

The total score for the programme is 73.55%. It scored 26 (78.79%)  in Academic Matters, 22 (62.86%) in Staffing, 20 (74.07%) in Physical Facilities, 15 (83.33%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored less than 70% in any of the four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme
