REMEDIES

1. Some cases of block-marking were identified in the examination scripts.

2. Less than 70% of the teaching staff has a PhD.

3. Only 50% of the teaching staff has benefitted from staff development programmes in the past three years.

4. The floor space of the laboratories that are currently in use is less than the BMAS requirement.

5. There is no dedicated pharmaceutical microbiology laboratory.

6. The pharmacology laboratory has no TLC tanks, electrophorosis and UV/FTIR. It has insufficient number of kynographs and chromatography cans.

7. The dedicated class rooms that are
presently in use are not spacious
enough for the current students’
enrolment per level.

8 The physical library holdings for
books and journals are not adequate.

 

1. Point-by-point marking of students’ scripts should be adopted

2. All the teaching staff in the programme should be encouraged to obtain a PhD.

3. Every teaching staff should be availed of training and other capacity development programmes.

4. More spacious laboratories should be provided for the programme.

5. A dedicated pharmaceutical laboratory should be provided for the programme

6. The pharmacology department should be provided with TLC tanks, electrophorosis and UV/FTIR; as well as additional kynographs and chromatography cans.

7. More spacious and furnished class rooms should be provided for the programme.

8. More books and journals should be provided in the physical library for the prog

 

The total score for the programme is 74.38%. It scored 28 (84.85%)  in Academic Matters, 27 (77.14%) in Staffing, 15 (55.56%) in Physical Facilities, 14 (77.78%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored less than 70% in any of the four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme
