1. Communication principles (CPE415) does not adequately cover the curriculum, as core topics such as Basic Antenna Theory, Error detection & Correction were omitted,
and Pulse modulation (PCM) does not cover differentials PCM (DPCM)

2. Only 50% of non-academic staff have benefitted from staff development in the last 3 years

3. Basic laboratory equipment such as signal generators, spectrum analyser, and ADC Trainers were lacking. And digital/microprocessor trainers were inadequate in number

4. Academic staff offices are inadequate in space

5. Books and journals are inadequate in number in the physical library

6. The existing research collaboration is not multidisciplinary in approach

7. Funding is inadequat

 

1. The University should ensure that all topics required in each course is adequately covered in the curriculum as required for the programme.

2. The university should ensure all staff benefit from staff development programme

3. The university should ensure modern and adequate laboratory equipment are provided for the programme

4. Adequate and well furnished offices should be provided for the programme

5. More books and journals should be provided for the programme

6. The University should engage in research and collaboration with multidisciplinary approach

7. Adequate funds should be provided for the programme

 

The total score for the programme is 86.00%. It scored 32.5 (87.84%)  in Academic Matters, 32 (91%) in Staffing, 23 (85.19%) in Physical Facilities, 15 (83.33%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 2 (66.67%) in Research and Collaborations and 1 (50.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
