DEFICIENCIES

REMEDIES

1. The curriculum contains less than three innovative courses.

2. The test and examination are of good standard but do not cover the curriculum.

3. The staff mix by rank of 16:33:50 does not meet the NUC approved guidelines for the discipline in two categories.

4. 40% of academic staff have not benefited from staff development programme.

5. Office equipment for academic staff such as bookshelves, file cabinets, fans and air conditioners are not available.

6. Library books and journals are inadequate in number

7. Funding for the programme is inadequate.

 

1. The University should ensure that the curriculum is enriched by the addition of at least four innovative courses without exceeding the maximum credit load.

2. The University should ensure that test and examination adequately cover the curriculum.

3. The University should ensure a staff mix by rank of 20:35:45 in line with the NUC approved guidelines.

4. The University should ensure that all academic staff benefit from the staff development programme.

5. The University should provide more office equipment for teaching staff.

6. More current books and journals should be procured for the programme.

7. The programme should be adequately funded.

 

The total score for the programme is 84.62%. It scored 23 (79.31%)  in Academic Matters, 31 (88.57%) in Staffing, 14 (87.50%) in Physical Facilities, 16 (88.89%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 2 (66.67%) in Research and Collaborations and (0.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
