REMEDIES

1. 9.3% of the students enrolled in the programme did not meet the admission requirements.

2. The quality of work conducted for food and beverages practicals is poor.

3. Students demonstrated average level of soft and hard skills.

4. Departmental internal quality assurance system exists but not effective and functional.
5. The staff mix by rank of 27:9:64 does not meet the NUC BMAS requirements.

6. 40% of non-academic staff have not benefitted from staff development programmed.

7. The Laboratory meets less than 70% of NUC space standards.

8. Some equipment like continuous feed food processors buffalo choppers, point of sale system and adequate storage racks and shelving are not available in the laboratory (kitchen).

9. The programme has subscription to only one data base

10. The internet facility of the library is limited in coverage.

11. Funding for the programme is not very adequate

 

1. The University should strictly adhere to the admission requirements for the programme.

2. The university should ensure that all practicals conducted are of good quality.

3. The university should ensure that soft and hard skills acquisition by the students is enhanced.

4. The university should ensure a functional departmental quality assurance system.
5. The University should ensure a staff mix by rank of 20:35:45.

6. The university should ensure that all staff benefit from the staff development programme.

7. Standard Laboratories should be provided for the programme.

8. All essential equipment should be provided for the laboratories.

9. Subscription to adequate e-resources should be made.

10. The internet facility should be upgraded to have a wider coverage across campus.

11. The programme should be adequately funded.

 

The total score for the programme is 81.82%. It scored 26 (78.79%)  in Academic Matters, 29 (83%) in Staffing, 24 (88.89%) in Physical Facilities, 14 (77.78%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
