1. Questions in ACC 222 (Cost Accounting) and ACC331 (Public Sector Accounting) are more of theoretical questions. 2. Staff mix by rank of 18.2:18.2:66.3 met the NUC SMAS in only one category. 3. The department is headed by a visiting professor. 4. 55.6% of academic staff and no non-academic staff benefitted from staff development programme in the last 3 years. 5. Some chairs in the classrooms are broken. 6. There are no IFRS and IPSAS manuals in the physical library. Books in some areas like Environmental Accounting, Forensic Accounting and Artificial Intelligence are not available in the physical library. 7. The E-Library subscribed to only one database (Ebscohost) and internet access is limited to the library environment. 8. Funding for the programme is inadequate.

1. More quantitative questions should be set for the Identified courses. 2. The university should ensure a staff mix by rank of 20:35:45. 3. A full-time professor or senior lecturer should be appointed to head the department. 4. The university should ensure that all staff benefit from staff development programme. 5. Broken chairs in the classrooms should be repaired or replaced. 6. All relevant books and journals should be provided in the physical library. 7. The university should subscribe to more databases and extend internet access to other areas of the university especially the academic areas. 8. More funds should be provided for the programme.

The total score for the programme is 78.75%. It scored 29 (90.63%) in Academic Matters, 23 (65.71%) in Staffing, 24.5 (90.74%) in Physical Facilities, 12 (66.67%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 2 (66.67%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored less than 70% in any of the four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme.
