1. The curriculum is inadequate for the degree as it does not contain all the core courses across all the levels of the study as listed in the BMAS. Some missing core courses include Practical Biology, Organic Chemistry 1&11, Biology II, Principles of Animal Production, Non-Ruminate and Ruminate Animal Production, Animal Genetics and Breeding, Permanent Crops, Agricultural Products Processing and Storage, Animal Health Management, Agrometology, Park Design Management, Micropropagation, Soil Chemistry and Soil Physics.

2. The Student’s Academic Regulation is unclear and not well-publicised to the students.
3. Students’ course evaluation does not exist for the programme.
4. The Departmental Internal Quality Assurance is not effective.
5. Only 56% of the Teaching Staff for the programme benefitted from the staff development scheme in the past 3 years.
6. Low internet connectivity.

 

1. The curriculum should be reviewed to contain all the core courses listed in the BMAS.
2. The course description, courses, and number of units to be taken by the students per semester should be clearly stated in the academic regulations and publicized.
3. Students’ course evaluation forms should be developed for the programme and made available for students’ use.
4. The Departmental Internal Quality Assurance Committee should be functional and effective.
5. The University should improve its staff development scheme.
6. The University should improve its internet connectivity for easy access to e-library resources in the library.

 

The total score for the programme is 80.67%. It scored 22 (66.67%)  in Academic Matters, 30 (85.71%) in Staffing, 25 (92.59%) in Physical Facilities, 14 (77.78%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and (0.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored less than 70% in any of the four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme
