1. Staff Mix by rank of 20:20:60 meets with the NUC BMAS on only Professorial Category(+-2).

2. Staff Development of 40% for Academic Staff and 25% for Non-Academic Staff is very poor.

3. Laboratory equipment for the programme is inadequate: such as
i. -70 Freezer ( Ultra low)
ii. Inoculating Hood
iii. Phase Contrast Microscope
iv. Florescence/Dark-field Microscope
v. Laminar Flow
4. There are few fire extinguishers and sand buckets
5. The Programme is headed by a Part-Time Academic Staff

 

1. The University should be encouraged to employ more Academic Staff into the programme.
2. Academic and Staff Development for the programme need to be invigorated immediately.
3. The University should procure adequate equipment for the Microbiology Laboratory as soon as possible.
4. More fire extinguishers and sand buckets should be procured by the University.
5. The University should employ a Full Time Staff to head the programme

 

The total score for the programme is 76.71%. It scored 28.25 (91.13%)  in Academic Matters, 21 (64%) in Staffing, 22 (81.48%) in Physical Facilities, 13.5 (75.00%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 2 (66.67%) in Research and Collaborations and 1 (50.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored less than 70% in any of the four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme
