REMEDIES

1. There is exclusion of systematic Geography of Nigeria and spatial organization and planning in the curriculum.

2. Some Marking schemes were not developed and for some courses it is not available in the evaluation of students’work

3. The project works are of good quality, covered relevant areas of the discipline, Human/physical Geography, climatology, hydrology, Applied Agro-climatology, urban and regional planning, Environmental Impact Assessment etc. but with limited innovation and creativity.

4. Capacity is not captured in practical work.

5. There is no evidence of effectiveness in internal Quality Assurance.

6. Teaching staff demonstrated no modern pedagogical skills with the available ICT facilities.

7. Less than 50% of teaching staff have not benefitted from staff development for the past three years.

8. There is no evidence of staff development for the non-teaching staff for the programme.

9. The programme is not adequately funded.

 

1. The University should include systematic Geography of Nigeria and spatial organization and planning in the curriculum.

2. Marking scheme should be made available and fully developed in the evaluation of students’ work.

3. The project works should be more innovative and creative.

4. Capacity should be captured in practical works.

5. The University should provide evidence of effectiveness internal Quality Assurance.
6. Teaching staff should demonstrate modern pedagogical skills with the available ICT facilities.

7. The University should ensure that teaching staff benefit from staff development in the programme

8. There should be evidence of staff development and number of non-teaching staff that have benefitted for staff development for the past three years in programme.

9. The University should ensure that the programme is adequately funded,

 

The total score for the programme is 78.40%. It scored 28 (75.68%)  in Academic Matters, 26 (74.29%) in Staffing, 23 (85.19%) in Physical Facilities, 15 (83.33%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 2 (66.67%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
