1. The degree project work is not innovative and creative.

2. The External examiner is a professor of transport Geography in the Department of logistic and transport technology.

3. The internal quality assurance mechanism is not effective.

4. 39% of the academic staff have not benefitted from the staff development programme.

5. Physical library books and journals are not current.

6. The programme is not adequately funded.

 

1. The University should ensure that the degree project work is improved upon.

2. The University should engage a core Geographer with relevant experience in the department of Geography.

3. The University should ensure that the internal quality assurance unit is effective to impact on the programme.

4. The University should ensure all staff benefit for the staff development.

5. The University should procure more current relevant books and journals for the programme.

6. The University should ensure that the programme is adequately funded.

 

The total score for the programme is 78.80%. It scored 30.5 (82.43%)  in Academic Matters, 26 (74.29%) in Staffing, 21 (77.78%) in Physical Facilities, 15 (83.33%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 2 (66.67%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
