REMEDIES

1. The curriculum is not fully adequate as some core courses were missing, these include:
a) PHY 222 Electric circuits & Electronics
b) PHY 311 Classical mechanics
c) PHY 372 Computational Physics
d) PHY 427 Workshop

2. about 3 – 4 practicals were conducted per semester.

3. Professors were engaged as External examiner but no evidence of moderation of question papers and marking scripts.

4. Internal quality assurance exists but no evidence of meetings.

5. The programme scored 0. Only 1 out of 3 non-teaching staff benefited from the staff development programme for the past 3 years.

6. Water supply and internet not available in the laboratory. Some equipment were not available, these includes: Digital multimeters, Oscilloscopes, and a generator for the laboratories.

7. Research and Collaborations are available, but no multidisciplinary approach applied

 

1. The University should ensure the curriculum contains all the core/compulsory courses prescribed in the BMAS across all the levels of study.

2. The university should ensure that students conduct at least 6 – 8 practicals per semester.

3. The university should ensure External examiner moderate questions papers, marking schemes.

4. The university should ensure that there should be minutes of meetings.

5. The university should improve on staff development programme for the non-teaching staff.

6. The university should ensure to procure the equipment not available in the laboratories such as Digital multimeters, Oscilloscopes, and a generator.

7. The university should improve on the Research and Collaborations.

 

The total score for the programme is 79.83%. It scored 23 (74.19%)  in Academic Matters, 32 (91%) in Staffing, 21 (77.78%) in Physical Facilities, 13 (72.22%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 2 (66.67%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
