REMEDIES

1.The degree projects are of good quality but not innovative.
2.The practical works did not cover vital aspects of Econometrics, such as cross-sectional analysis and panel data analysis.
3.The students Sampled demonstrated soft skills in term of estimation of fine series data, however, lack adequate knowledge of estimation and the skill for both cross -sectional and panel data
4.Only 68% of teaching staff and 67% of non teaching staff have benefited for staff development.
5.The computers in the econometrics laboratory are inadequate.
6.The teaching staff offices are slightly inadequate and not well equipped, especially the professorial cadre.
7.The fire extinguishers in the teaching facilities and the library area are expired.

8.There is only one relevant database.

9. Inadequate funding.

 

1.The university should ensure that all degree projects are of good quality and innovative.
2.Student practical work should cover all aspects of econometrics

3.Students should have very good level of hard and soft skills relevant to the programme

4.The university should create Staff Development Programme for teaching and non-teaching staffs in the programme.
5.The university should ensure all laboratory equipment are available for the programme.
6.The university should ensure that staff offices are spacious and well equipped in line with NUC CCMAS.
7.The safety of the university should comply with all government laws relating to fire and environmental sanitation.
8.The university should subscribe to at least 2 relevant database in addition to open source materials.

9. Adequate funding should be provided for the programme

 

The total score for the programme is 83%. It scored 37 (88%)  in Academic Matters, 35 (89%) in Staffing, 27 (78%) in Physical Facilities, 18 (78%) in Library. The programme scored 3 (33%) in Funding, 3 (67%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
