1. There are no innovative courses for the programme.

2. Standard of test and examinations are poor. Tests and examinations do not cover the curriculum.

3. Students interviewed complained about inadequacy of audio-visual facilities for the programme.

4. The internal quality assurance mechanism is not effective, there are no evidence of minutes of meetings.

5. 75.0% of Non-teaching staff have not benefited from Staff Development programme.

6. There is no Language Laboratory in place for the programme.

7. Classrooms for 300 and 400 levels are inadequate in space.

8. Physical Library books and Journals are inadequate in number and coverage.

10. The slow internet connectivity impedes access to e-books and journals by stusents and staff of the programme.

11. Funding for the programme is inadequate.

12. Research and collaboration is inadequate for the programme.

 

1. The University should ensure that the curriculum is enriched by the addition of at least four innovative courses without exceeding the maximum credit load.

2. The University should ensure that standard of texts and examinations is improved and that tests and examinations cover the curriculum.
3. The university should ensure that audio-visual facilities are procured for the programme.

4. The University should ensure that minutes of meetings are adequately documented.

5. The University should ensure that all Non-teaching staff benefit from staff Development Programme.

6. The University as a matter of urgency should put in place a digital language laboratory for the programme.

7. A spacious classroom should be provided for the programme.

8. More current books and journals should be procured for the programme.

10. The University should ensure that internet connectivity is improved upon by increasing the bandwidth.

11. The Programme should be adequately funded.

12. The university should ensure that there are more research and collaborations for the programme.

 

The total score for the programme is 70.00%. It scored 24 (75.00%)  in Academic Matters, 33 (94%) in Staffing, 13 (48.15%) in Physical Facilities, 10 (55.56%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 1 (33.33%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored less than 70% in any of the four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme
