1. Standard of test and examinations are poor. 400 level questions should be in essay –type answer instead of one –word. Five questions out of which one is compulsory and any other two. Also some marking scheme are hand-written.

2. The internal quality assurance mechanism is not effective, there are no evidence of minutes of meetings.

3. 35.7% of the academic staff and all of the non-teaching staff have not benefited from Staff Development programme.

4. Language Laboratory is inadequate in space. Furthmore, the panel could not assess the functionality of the equipment in the language laboratory because of power out break and a faulty generator.

5. Furniture in the classrooms and theater hall are not well maintained, some are dilapidated

6. Academic Staff offices are inadequate in space.

7. Physical Library books and Journals are inadequate in number and physical books are not current.

8. The slow internet connectivity impedes access to e-books and journals by students and staff of the programme.

9. Funding for the programme is inadequate.

 

1. The University should ensure that standard of texts and examinations is improved and hand-written marking schemes should be discouraged.

2. The University should ensure that minutes of meetings are adequately documented.

3. The University should ensure that all academic and non-teaching staff benefit from staff Development Programme.

4. A standard (spacious) laboratory should be provided for the programme.

5. Furniture items in classrooms and theater hall should be well maintained.

6. Standard (spacious) well-furnished offices should be provided for the academic staff of the programme.

7. More current books and journals should be procured for the programme.

8. The University should ensure that internet connectivity is improved upon by increasing the bandwidth.

9. The Programme should be adequately funded.

 

The total score for the programme is 79.17%. It scored 29 (90.63%)  in Academic Matters, 31 (89%) in Staffing, 16 (59.26%) in Physical Facilities, 13 (72.22%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored less than 70% in any of the four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme.

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme
