1. PHY423 (Solid State Physics) is omitted in the curriculum.
2. The curriculum contains one additional/innovative course.
3. Quality assurance in the department is not effective.
4. Non-teaching staff are not adequate in number.
5. 66.7% of non-teaching staff have not benefitted from the Staff Development Programme.
6. The laboratories lack prep rooms, stores and offices for technologists.
7. The following equipment is not available in the laboratories:
i) Bunsen burners
ii) Wheatstone bridge
iii) Chemical balance
iv) Heat conductivity apparatus
8. Funding for the programme is inadequate.

 

1. The University should ensure that PHY423 (Solid State Physics) is included in the curriculum.
2. The University should ensure that at least 4 innovative courses are included in the curriculum.
3. The University should ensure that quality assurance in the department is effective.
4. The University should employ more non-teaching staff for the programme.
5. The University should ensure that all non-teaching staff benefit from the Staff Development Programme.
6. The University should ensure that prep rooms, stores and offices for technologists are provided in the laboratories.
7. The University should ensure that all laboratory equipment is provided for the programme.
8. The University should ensure that funding for the programme is adequate.

 

The total score for the programme is 80.00%. It scored 27 (72.97%)  in Academic Matters, 30 (85.71%) in Staffing, 21 (77.78%) in Physical Facilities, 16 (88.89%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 2 (66.67%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
