REMEDIES

1. The staff mix by rank of 28:35:47 meets NUC requirement in only one category.
2. Only 16 out of 30 teaching staff have PhD degrees.
3. Computer system in the ICT Lab is inadequate to support the ICT needs of the programme.
4. There are no smart boards, Public Address system and good chairs in the class rooms.
5. Professorial and Senior Lecturers offices are without good chairs and tables, TV sets, Air Conditioners, file cabinets.
6. Class rooms, Lecture halls, central library, Labs do not have serviced fire extinguishers and are unkept.
7. There are limited text books and journals in the physical holdings.

 

1. The university should ensure the staff mix by rank of 20:35:45 is maintained.
2. The university should encourage all the teaching staff in the programme to acquire PhD Degrees.
3. The university should provide more computers in the ICT lab.
4. The university should provide Smartboards, Public address system and good chairs in all the class rooms.
5. The university should provide good cairs and tables, Television set, Airconditioners and modern file cabinets in Professorial and Senior Lecturers’ offices.
6. The university should provide fire extinguishers in classes, lecture halls, library and should ensure they are kept clean.
7. The university should provide additional textbooks and journals that are relevant to the programme.

 

The total score for the programme is 83.20%. It scored 34 (91.89%)  in Academic Matters, 29 (82.86%) in Staffing, 21 (77.78%) in Physical Facilities, 13 (72.22%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
