REMEDIES

1. Practicals conducted fairly cover the curriculum.
2. The 3 technical staff are inadequate in number.
3. Only 33.3% of the non-academic benefited from staff development in the past 3 years.
4. The lab space is inadequate and meets 50% but less than 60% of the NUC space standards.
5. The department has 2 general labs and no dedicated labs which is inadequate. The labs are ill-equipped with very few lab equipment installed.
6. The classrooms need improved lighting, fans, and white boards need to be replaced.
7. Some senior staff offices do not have inbuilt toilet facilities, filing cabinet and bookshelves.
8. Fire extinguishers are not enough and are expired; sand buckets also are not enough.
9. Funding is inadequate.

 

1. Practicals conducted should cover the curriculum.
2 More technical staff should be recruited to the programme.
3. All non-academic staff should benefit from staff development.
4. The lab space should be adequate to meet the provisions of the BMAS by 70% or more.
5. Provide basic laboratories, studios, workshops with necessary basic equipment in each.
6. Lights, fans, should be installed in all classrooms and all white board replaced with new ones.
7. All senior staff offices should have inbuilt toilet facilities, filing cabinets and bookshelves.
8. Provide more fire extinguishers, sand buckets and replace expired ones.
9. Funding should be adequate.

 

The total score for the programme is 79.34%. It scored 28 (84.85%)  in Academic Matters, 32 (91.43%) in Staffing, 16 (59.26%) in Physical Facilities, 13 (72.22%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored less than 70% in any of the four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme
