1. There is no innovative courses added to the curriculum .

2. The standard of the practical work was good in quality but limited in scope

3.Internal Quality Assurance exist, but there is no proper documentation at the departmental level.
4. The Staff mix by rank is not consistence with the NUC guideline of 20:35:45.
5. Less than 60 percent of Academic Staff does not have PhD.
6. The Acting Head of the Department has requisite experience, but not not a full-time staff
7.There is no record for staff development for both Academic and non-Academic staff in the past three years.
8. so laboratory equipment were not available.
the office accommodation are inadequate and not well furnished.
9. the university is only subscribed to one data base, and the internet connectivity is very poor.
10. Funding for the programme is inadequate.
11. there is no evidence of research and collaborations

 

1. The University should introduce at least four innovative courses to the curriculum.
2. The University should ensure that standard of practical worked should cover the entire scope of the programme, especially in food fermentation, analysis of chemistry, biochemistry and nutrition.
3. The University should ensure that Internal Quality Assurance is more effective at the Departmental level with proper documentation.
4. The University should ensure that the adhere to the NUC guideline by employing more academic staff at the Professorial level.
5. More Academic Staff should be encourage to have a PhD
6. Full-Time Senior lecturer with requisite experience should be employed as Head of Department.
Academic and non-Academic staff should sponsored for staff development .
7. the university should ensure they procure laboratory equipment such as; digital weigh balance, texture analyzer, moisture analyzer, colourimeter, incubator, dryer, oven, spectrophotometer, soxhlet apparatus, freezer, laminer air flow etc.
8. more and well furnished academic staff offices should be constructed.
9. the university should subscribe to more data bases and improve on the internet connectivity.
10. the university should provide more funds for the programme.
11. the university should ensure the collaborate with other institutions to make the programme more viable.

 

The total score for the programme is 66%. It scored 25 (75%)  in Academic Matters, 20 (57%) in Staffing, 19 (70%) in Physical Facilities, 13 (72%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66%) in Funding, 0 (0%) in Research and Collaborations and 0 (0%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored less than 70% in any of the four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme
