REMEDIES

1. There is Lack of Functional Internal Quality Assurance System in the Department.
2. The Department is top heavy with regards to Professorial and Senior Lecturers ranks.
3. Staff Development, only 64% of Academic staff benefited from staff development in the last three years and only 50% of non-teaching staff benefited.
4. Classroom equipment’s, Projectors and Publick Address System are not adequate-there is large population of students
5. Office Accommodation, Some Professorial offices have no toilets ensuite

 

1. The University should ensure a functional internal quality assurance committee for the programme.
2. There is need to beef up the junior cadre to ensure a good staff mix
3. There is need for enhanced sponsorships for conferences, Seminars
and workshops across board.
4. The university should ensure the provision for more public Address System in the classroom.
5. the new Biochemistry building should have provision for comfortable toilets for staff and toilets.

 

The total score for the programme is 87.20%. It scored 35 (94.59%)  in Academic Matters, 30 (85.71%) in Staffing, 20 (74.07%) in Physical Facilities, 17 (94.44%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
