REMEDIES

1. The reports of the external examiner are vague not detailed and comprehensive enough to provide guidance.

2. Only 64% of academic staff has Ph.D degrees.

3. Only 50% of the academic and non-academic staff have benefitted from the Staff Development Programme.

4. The fire extinguisher and sand buckets in the department are inadequate.

5. Physical library books and journals are inadequate in number and currency.

 

1. The external examiner’s report should capture amongst others, the university’s level of compliance with the BMAS and the judgment of the assessor on the quality of the teaching and facilities available for the programme.
2. All academic staff should have a Ph.D degree.

3. The University should ensure that all academic and non-academic staff benefit from the Staff Development Programme.

4. More fire extinguishers with sand bucket should be provided and strategically located in the department.

5. More current books and journals should be procured for the programme.

 

The total score for the programme is 85.60%. It scored 34 (91.89%)  in Academic Matters, 28 (80.00%) in Staffing, 24 (88.89%) in Physical Facilities, 15 (83.33%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 2 (66.67%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
