There were evidence of block marking in the students answer scripts

The students practical work do not adequately cover the curriculum

The students degree examination questions are not moderated externally

The Department is not run by a qualified academic but a lecturer 1 officer
office accommodation for lecturer 1 and below are inadequate in space
The department is subscribed to only one database
Funding is not adequate for the programme

 

The University should ensure that marks are properly distributed and allocated in the students scripts and marking scheme
The University should ensure that the students practical work covers the depth and breath of the curriculum

The University should ensure that degree examinations are properly moderated externally
The University should ensure that the department run by a qualified senior lecturer and above

More spacious office accommodation should be provided for the staff of the Department
More active databases should be subscribed to effective internet connectivity
The programme should be adequately funded

 

The total score for the programme is 84.40%. It scored 30.5 (82.43%)  in Academic Matters, 32 (91.43%) in Staffing, 24 (88.89%) in Physical Facilities, 13 (72.22%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 2 (66.67%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
