1. The curriculum contains only two innovative courses

2.The standard of test and examination do not cover the curriculum, especially in MTH 4301 (Levesque measure and integration)

3. There is block allocation of marks to questions in MTH 4307 (Theory of ordinary Differential Equation)

4. Practical work conducted did not cover the curriculum as there was no practicals conducted in MTH 2302 (Introduction to Numerical Analysis)

5. The proportion of staff core to the subject area provides for only 54.5% of the teaching staff need

6. None of the non-academic staff benefitted from staff development

7. five (5) out of eleven (11) available computers in the laboratory are non-functional.

8. Some Class rooms and lecture theatres lacks functional ceiling fans and projectors.

9.The Slow internet connectivity impedes access to e-books and journals by staff and students of the programme

10. Funding for the programme is inadequate

 

1. The University should ensure that the curriculum is enriched by the addition of at least four (4) innovative courses without exceeding the maximum credit load

2. The Univesrsity should ensure that standard of test and examination is improved upon, and that tests and examinations cover the curriculum

3. Block allocation of marks to examination questions should be discouraged.

4. The University should ensure that practical work is conducted and cover the whole curriculum

5. The University should ensure that the Proportion of staff core to the subject area provides for 75% or more of the teaching staff needs for the programme.

6. The University should ensure that all non-academic staff benefit from staff development programme

7. All computers in the laboratory should be maitained and more computers should be procured for he programme.

8. Furniture items in the class rooms and lecture should be well maintained

9. The University should ensure that internet connectivity is improved upon

10. The programme should be adequately funded

 

The total score for the programme is 76.02%. It scored 28 (75.68%)  in Academic Matters, 26 (79.00%) in Staffing, 21 (77.78%) in Physical Facilities, 13.5 (75.00%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 2 (66.67%) in Research and Collaborations and 1 (50.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
