DEFICIENCIES

REMEDIES

1. There is no inclusion of innovative courses to the programme.
2. The academic regulations are not well publicized.
3. Practical work did not cover the curriculum.
4. There is no evidence of Internal Quality Assurance System.
5. Staff mix by rank do not conform in any of the category.
6. Less that 60% of teaching staff have Ph.D degrees.
7. The HOD of the proramme is on visiting.
8. Only two out of the 6 non-teaching staff have benefitted from the university’s staff development.
9. The space for the clinic and other laboratories meet less than 50% of prescribed requirements.
10. Professorial offices do not have toilet facilities, TV set, Air Conditoners, computer system and good furniture.
11. Text books and journals in the physical Library are not current.

 

1. The university should include at least 4 innovative courses to the programme in line with the CCMAS
2. The university should circulate the university’s hand books to the students
3. Students’ practical works should cover the curriculum
4. The university should have an effective Internal Quality Assurance System in place.
5. The university should ensure the staff mix by rank of 20:35:45 is adhered to in line with the provisions of the BMAS/CCMAS.
6. The university should encourage all the teaching staff possess PhD degrees.
7. The university should ensure a permanent and qualified staff heads the programme.
8. The university should encourage all non-teaching staff to benefit from the university’s staff development policy.
9. The University should ensure the clinic and laboratory space conform with prescribed requirements.
10. The university should ensure professorial offices have toilets, Air Conditioners, good file cabinets, Television set and computer system.
11. The university should purchase related current textbooks and journals in the physical library.

 

The total score for the programme is 72.69%. It scored 24 (72.73%)  in Academic Matters, 25 (71.43%) in Staffing, 18.5 (68.52%) in Physical Facilities, 15 (83.33%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and (0.00%) in Employers’ Rating. the Panel recommended  accreditation status for the Programme.

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  accreditation status for the Programme
