1. URP 316(Housing) and URP 525 (Advanced Regional Planning) do not adequately cover the curriculum as contained in the BMAS/CCMAS. 2. Two candidates admitted into the programme do not meet the admission requirements. 3. The standard of tests and examinations indicates that some questions do not cover relevant aspects of the curriculum 4. Marking schemes are not well developed; inconsistencies in the allocation of marks and 100% awards of marks for examination indicate that tests were not conducted. 5. Students’ practical work was poorly written and did not cover wide area of the subject. 6. Students demonstrate an average performance in hard and soft skills relevant to the programme. 8. There was no evidence of internal quality control at the university. 9. There was no evidence of a staff development programme for academic and non-academic staff in the past three years. 10. The department has no GIS laboratory It meets 60% of the prescribed NUC space standards. 11. The laboratory equipment inspected met the BMAS specifications covering the broad areas of the programme up to 60% but less than 70% 12. The classroom space available meets the space standard specified in the BMAS by 60% but less than 70%. Also, the number of studios is inadequate. 13. The classroom equipment is slightly inadequate. There are no air- conditions, studios have no projector, no whiteboard facility, and poor maintenance of lighting systems. 14. The office accommodation is below the BMAS requirement and lacks basic facilities such as Air-conditions, Computers and file cabinets 15. The books and journals in the physical library are insufficient in number. 16. Staff and students access the e-resources in the Library using only campus hotspots and intranet. 18. Funding for the programme is inadequate.

1. The University should ensure that all courses cover the curriculum as stipulated in the BMAS. 2. The University should ensure that all students in the program meet the admission requirements. 3. It is recommended that tests and examinations be of good standard and quality and adequately cover the curriculum. 5. Students need more exposure and improvement to urban design, neighborhood layout, and master plan. 6. Students require improvement in soft skills acquisition in GIS, AUTOCAD, ARCGIS, Statistical Package for Social Science, and Computer-aided designs. 9. The university should be encouraged to initiate a staff development programme for both academic and non-academic staff. 11. It is recommended that the university should procure Arc GIS software for student’s use. 12. It is recommended that four more studios be provided for the department. 13. It is recommended that the university should have a maintenance culture of its facilities. Also make provision for Air-conditions, projector, a whiteboard facility and fans in the classroom 14. It is recommended that more spacious offices with Computers, Air-conditions, Fans, File cabinets and bookshelves be provided 16. The University should ensure a wider coverage by staff and students

The total score for the programme is 60.00%. It scored 20 (54.05%) in Academic Matters, 27 (77.0%) in Staffing, 13 (48.15%) in Physical Facilities, 12 (66.67%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 1 (33.33%) in Research and Collaborations and 1 (50.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored less than 70% in any of the four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme.
