REMEDIES

1. The curriculum for the programme is not fully adequate as only 6 unit
(SIWES) course is listed in the second semester of 300 level.

2. The practical work is good but did not cover the curriculum especially in Building Materials, Construction Techniques and Detailing.

3. Evidence of student course evaluation exist but do not give a detail information on the evaluation criteria.

4. The non- teaching staff available is of good quality but not adequate for the programme.

5. The laboratory equipment available for the programme falls below the requirement of the CCMAS.

6. The currency of the journal holding is not adequate for the programme.

7. Funding is inadequate for the programme.

 

1. The curriculum should be enriched with more core/compulsory
courses at 300 levels.

2. The Department should ensure that practical works covers all aspect
of the curriculum.

3. The Department should ensure student course evaluation criteria are
clearly stated.

4. More technical staff should be engaged for the programme.

5. The University should procure laboratory equipment inline with the
provision of the NUC CCMAS.

6. The university should ensure that more current journals are procured
for the programme.

7. The programme should be adequately funded.

 

The total score for the programme is 76.03%. It scored 27 (81.82%)  in Academic Matters, 27 (77%) in Staffing, 20 (74.07%) in Physical Facilities, 13 (72.22%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.33%) in Funding, 2 (66.67%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
