1. The following courses are omitted at 200 level; IMS 201: Introduction to Media Literacy and IMS 202: Information and International Media System.

2. The proportion of teaching staff core to the programme provides for
only 50% of the staff need.

3. 36.4% of the academic staff have not benefitted from the staff
Development Programme

4. The programme does not have equipped central workshop,
instructional educational technological studios and Multimedia
software.

5. Physical library books are not adequate in number and currency.

6 Funding is not adequate for the programme

 

1. The curriculum should be reviewed to included all core courses
omitted in the 200 level.

2. The University should ensure that a proportion of teaching staff core
to the subject area provides for 75% or more of the teaching staff
need.

3. The university should ensure that all academic staff benefitted from
the Staff Development Programme.

4. All essential studios and equipment should be provided for the
programme in line with the NUC regulations.

5. More current books should be procured for the programme.

6. The programme should be adequately funded.

 

The total score for the programme is 78.3%. It scored 33 (84.8%)  in Academic Matters, 35 (80%) in Staffing, 27 (62.9%) in Physical Facilities, 18 (83.3%) in Library. The programme scored 3 (66.7%) in Funding, 3 (100%) in Research and Collaborations and (0.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored less than 70% in any of the four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  INTERIM accreditation status for the Programme
