REMEDIES

1. Practical works conducted, were of good quality but did not cover the curriculum.

2. 67% of the academic staff have a Ph.D.

3. The Head of Department is a Professor, well qualified but not efficient.

4. A laboratory exits for the progrmmme, well equipped but meets 60% of the NUC space standards.

5. Staff offices are slightly equipped.

6. Library holdings are only very current in journals and not very current in textbooks.

7. Funding for the programme is adequate.

 

1. The University should ensure that students conduct more practicals to cover the curriculum.

2. All academic staff should be encouraged to obtain a Ph.D.

3. The University should engage an efficient academic as Head of Department.

4. More space should be provided for the laboratory.

5. All staff offices should be well equipped with functional air conditioners.

6. More recent textbooks should be procured for the programme.

7. The University should ensure very adequate funding for the programme.

 

The total score for the programme is 91.20%. It scored 35 (94.59%)  in Academic Matters, 32 (91.43%) in Staffing, 24 (88.89%) in Physical Facilities, 16 (88.89%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
