REMEDIES

1. There is only one Innovative course in their curriculum: ENT 301.

2. The course content, learning materials and physical facilities are fairly
adequate.

3. Only 66.7% academic staff have benefitted from the Staff
Development Programme in the last three years.

4. Only 50% non-academic staff have benefitted from Staff Development
Programme in the last three years.

5. The Mechanical Engineering Laboratory lacks some basic equipment
such as: boom calorimeter, flow meters, heat exchangers, wind
tunnels and digital microscope.

6. The Office Accommodation is not well equipped.

7. Text books of Mechanical Engineering department in the library are
inadequate in number.

8. Funding for the programme is inadequate.

 

1. The University should add more innovative courses in their
curriculum.

2. The University should ensure that the course content, learning
materials and physical facilities are improved upon.

3. The University should ensure that all academic Staff benefit from Staff
Development Programme.

4. The University should ensure that all non- academic Staff benefit from
Staff Development Programme.

5. The University should procure more equipment in the Mechanical
Engineering Laboratory.
6. The Office accommodation should be well equipped.

7. More textbooks of Mechanical Engineering should be procured for
the programme.

8. The programme should be adequately funded.

 

The total score for the programme is 81.5%. It scored 27.25 (82.6%)  in Academic Matters, 32 (91%) in Staffing, 19.5 (72.2%) in Physical Facilities, 15 (83.3%) in Library. The programme scored 1 (33.3%) in Funding, 2 (66.7%) in Research and Collaborations and (%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
