1. 36% of academic staff core to the subject area do not have a Ph.D. degree.

2. Inadequate administrative staff.

3. 67% of non-teaching staff have not benefited from staff development programme in the three years.

4. Some essential laboratory equipment such as, Phase contrast microscope, fluorescence microscope, dark-field microscope and anaerobic jars/incubators are not available for the programme.

5. Professors’ offices do not have a personalized toilet.

6. Funding for the programme is inadequate

 

1. The University should encourage all academic staff to obtain a PhD. degree
2. The University should ensure that qualified administrative staff are engaged for the programme.

3. The University should ensure that all non-teaching staff benefit from staff development Programme.

4. All essential laboratory equipment should be provided for the programme in line with the BMAS/CCMAS.

5. The University should ensure professors’ offices have a personalized toilet.

6. The programme should be adequately funded

 

The total score for the programme is 92.00%. It scored 37 (100.00%)  in Academic Matters, 30 (85.71%) in Staffing, 23 (85.19%) in Physical Facilities, 18 (100.00%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
