1. Interaction with students revealed some students lack critical thinking and demonstration skills. 2. Internal quality assurance unit do not exist at the departmental level. 3. Non-teaching staff of the programme are inadequate in number, especially the lower cadre of technical staff. 4. 33.3% of non-teaching staff have not benefited from staff development in the past three years. 5. Some essential laboratory equipment such as Phase-constrast microscope, fluorescence microscope and equipment for molecular microbiology (polymerase chain reaction machine and electrophoresis unit) are not available for the programme. 6. Physical journals are inadequate in currency. 7. Interaction with students revealed that access to internet services is limited to some areas. 8. Funding for the programme is inadequate. 9. Research and collaboration do not exist at the departmental level 10. Tracer system exist but not effective.

1. There is need for training and retraining of technical staff to help improve the level of skills acquired by the students. 2. The University should ensure that Quality assurance unit is established for the programme. 3. There is need for the university to engage more lower cadre of technical staff. 4. The University should ensure that all non-teaching staff benefit from staff development Programme 5. All essential laboratory equipment should be provided for the programme in line with the NUC BMAS/CCMAS. 6. More current journals should be procured for the programme. 7. The University should ensure a wider coverage of internet services in the campus. 8. The programme should be funded adequately. 9. There is need for effective collaboration at the programme level to enhance the quality and impact of research. 10. The university should ensure that a functional tracer system is in place.

The total score for the programme is 88.8%. It scored 35 (94.59%) in Academic Matters, 32 (91.42%) in Staffing, 25 (92.59%) in Physical Facilities, 15 (83.3%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.7%) in Funding, 1 (33.33%) in Research and Collaborations and 1 (50.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended FULL accreditation status for the Programme.
