1. All students degree projects does not have approval page for signatures

2. External examiners system exits but are engaged for a period of three years instead of the stipulated two years.

3. The staff student ratio 1:31 does not meet the NUC approved guidelines

4. The staff mix by rank of 45:15:40 does not meet the NUC approved guidelines in all categories.

5. The non-teaching staff are not adequate in number.

6. 35% of academic staff and 50% of the non-teaching staff have not benefited from the Staff Development Programme.

7. The software laboratory is small in space with 50 computers with pirated software and its inadequate for the number of students in the programme

8. The Classrooms were not well maintained and do not have teaching aids like smart boards, projectors and white boards

9. Academic staff offices are not well furnished with filing cabinets, Air conditioners and bookshelves

10. Physical library books and journals are inadequate in currency and coverage.

11. The slow internet connectivity impedes access to e-book and journals by students and staff of the programme.

12. Funding for the programme is inadequate.

 

1. The University should ensure that all students projects have approval page with signatures of necessary supervisors

2. The university should ensure that external examiners are engaged for the stipulated number of years.

3. The University should adhere strictly to the staff/student ratio of 1:20.

4. The University should ensure a staff mix by rank of 20:35:45 in line with the NUC approved guidelines

5. The University should employ more technologist and laboratory assistants for the programme

6. The University should ensure that all staff benefit from the Staff Development Programme.

7. The University should provide a larger space with more computers with licensed software on them.

8. The University should ensure all classrooms have teaching aids and are well maintained.

9. Standard and adequately furnished academic staff offices should be provided.

10. More current books and journals should be procured for the programme to cover all the core areas of the programme.

11. More internet bandwidth should be provided in the e-library for fast accessibility to books and journals.

12. The programme should be adequately funded.

 

The total score for the programme is 83.20%. It scored 33 (89.19%)  in Academic Matters, 29 (83%) in Staffing, 21 (77.78%) in Physical Facilities, 14 (77.78%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and 2 (100.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
