REMEDIES

1. The staff mix by rank of 33.3:38.9:27.8 does not meet the NUC guidelines in any category.
2. Office accommodation is slightly inadequate in space.
3. There are no sand buckets in the physical library.
4. Library holding are inadequate in number and coverage: Text Books in core areas should be purchased such as Tim Seis Analysis, Non-Parametric Statistics, Design and Analysis of Experiments, and Advance Probability.
5. There are no current journals in the core areas of Statistics.

 

1. The university should ensure that the staff mix by rank is 20:35:45 in line with the NUC guidelines.
2. Office accommodation should be at least 1m2 per FTE according to the NUC guidelines.
3. Sand buckets should be provided for the physical library.
4. At least 15 additional copies of the books sighted should be purchased. Also, Text Books in core areas should be purchased such as Tim Seis Analysis, Non-Parametric Statistics, Design and Analysis of Experiments, and Advance Probability.
5. Current journals in the core areas of Statistics should be purchased, such as : Journal of Nigeria Statistical Association, Journal of Professional Statistics Society of Nigeria, Journal of Mathematical Statistics, and International Journal of Biometrics.

 

The total score for the programme is 86.13%. It scored 32 (96.97%)  in Academic Matters, 28 (80.00%) in Staffing, 23 (85.19%) in Physical Facilities, 14.5 (80.56%) in Library. The programme scored 2 (66.67%) in Funding, 3 (100.00%) in Research and Collaborations and (0.00%) in Employers’ Rating. Based on the fact that the programme scored up to 70% and above in all four core components (Academic Matters, Staffing, Physical Facilities and Library), the Panel recommended  FULL accreditation status for the Programme.

B.    APPROVAL BY THE COMMISSION

Based on further analysis of the report, the Commission upholds the recommendation of  FULL accreditation status for the Programme
